The Origins of Psychology and psychodynamic approach.
Psychology is said to be the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. The study of human behavior, development, and learning; and also seeks to understand and explain thought, emotion, and behavior. Today the question we are doing falls under the History of Psychology.Psychology dates back to the ancient Greeks and was a branch of philosophy until 1879, it then became a separate discipline. Other fields that psychology boarders on are physiology, neuroscience, sociology and anthropology. Wilhelm Wundt opened the first Laboratory dedicated to psychology in 1879 at the University of Leipzig.The formal beginning of psychology started in the mid 18th century when a German physiologist named Wilhelm Wundt treated psychology as an independent science discipline. His book “Principles of Physiological Psychology” was published in 1874, it focused on consciousness, including feelings, emotions and ideas.
Psychology’s history cannot be understood adequately without knowing something of philosophy’s history. All of the important issues that concern modern psychologists have been addressed by philosophers (2008).
